3 simple steps and get extra 2 hours per day

Have you had many busy days and wished if there are more hours in a day? Would you enjoy spending a couple of more hours with your family or spouse? The lack of time is one of the most compelling challenges we face in our lives. We all are dealt with the same 24 hours every day, and only some are able to make most of it. Here are 3 simple tips that can free 2 hours everyday in your life.

1. Limit checking your emails.

An average office worker today gets around 20-100 emails per day. Most of them check their emails as the first thing in the morning. This is a bad practise because it distracts from your daily plan. Make it a habit to suppress the temptation to check your emails often. Limit checking your e-mails to 2-3 times a day, and always reply in batches when possible. Practicing this might be uncomfortable for you for the first few days, but after a week or two, your colleagues will not even notice that you do not waste time with e-mails often.

2. Effectively prioritize

Prepare a daily task list everyday before you start something. This is best done the night before you go to sleep. Doing so will help you to sleep better with a clearer mind and you will come up with solutions while you sleep. Always start your day early by doing the most important task first. Often this will be a task that you will feel uncomfortable with and want to procrastinate. But when you bite your tongue and get it done early, you will have a burst of energy to complete all other tasks with much less time.

3. Limit social media

Many young adults spent a lot of time in online social platforms. They may include Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and many other online forums. As much as those tools help to connect with your friends, they can be huge time wasters for many people. An effective technique to limit your time with these media is to schedule your time around deadlines. For example if you want to spend 30 minutes with social media everyday, do so 15 minutes before lunch and 15 minutes before leaving work. This will force you to break the pattern and save a lot more time daily.

8 Simple Steps to Improve Your Time Management

Are you a person who just can’t seem to manage tour time properly? If you been having problems at work or at home, there is a good possibility that those problems might be caused by your inability to manage your time correctly. But the good news is that there are few steps you can take to improve your time management. I have listed 8 simple steps bellow.

First: You need to know that you have a problem.

Acknowledgement and understating that you may have a time management problem is the first step to changing you behavior. Although it is typical to be late for social event or work, it is something that should not happen on a regular basis. If it is, it is time to understand that you may have a problem.

Second: You have to decide to change

Just knowing that you have a problem with time management is important but wanting and changing it is even more important. You have to set goals for yourself and you have to stick to the program to achieve these goals as this will provide you with motivation. Some simple goals may include showing up to dinner dates on time for two month or maybe sticking to a workout schedule for few months without slacking off.

Third: You have to stick to your Goals.

Just coming up with few time management goals for you to meet is important but not enough. You have to stick to these goals and not give up when you are faced with some complications. Make sure you stick to the goals you have set for yourself.

Fourth: Consider creating daily task lists

Writing up a task list for yourself is quite an easy way to manage your time. In reality it is probably one of the easiest ways that you can take. Write everything you need to in a day and make sure you list your tasks in order of importance and make sure you do them.

Five: Use and rely on time management tools

Correctly managing your time is important, but sometimes it can be quite hard for some people to get used to. If you one of those people you should consider using time management tools. Simple tools you can use are cell phones and computers as they all come with alerts, diaries, alarm clocks and many more.

Six: You should learn how to say “NO”

In reality there always will be times when you may be unable to refuse a task at home or at work, but you have to try and not to take more than you can accomplish. If you have to consider looking into outside help with your projects. At home you may consider hiring a housecleaner to help you out at work you may have to turn for help to a colleague.

Seven: Get yourself Organized.

Organization is one of the most important keys to being able to correctly manage your time. If you are unorganized you quite possibly wasting a huge amount of time. For example at work you waste time by searching for misplaced items like documents or stationary. At home you may spend time watching TV instead of doing the jobs which need doing. Make sure you get organized it will save you heaps of time to do your usual tasks.

Eight: Consider Hiring Professional Help.

As I have mentioned before if you are overwhelmed with work or at home you may want to find a professional help like house cleaner or consider hiring a contractor ho help you out at work. In nothing works then there are companies and individuals out there who specialize in coaching people on how to manage time and get organized in life but consider this as your last resort.

Time Management In The Workplace – Stop Less, Do More

How well do you work? What I mean is, what do you actually produce, and at what level of quality?

Your time management at work dictates both. Whether you’re part of a large organization or you work for yourself, how you manage your time has a direct impact on what you do, how you do it and, just as importantly, how you feel about it.

When you’re working, all you ever need to decide is what to do and how to do it. Maybe what to do isn’t something you need to give a lot of thought to – someone else sets tasks for you. In this case, when will you do it and how well you do it become the issue.

Whatever your circumstances, how you handle three key issues will affect your quantity and quality of work.

Procrastination.

Everybody procrastinates. It’s just that some people put things off more than others. What about you? What patterns do you typically follow? Overcoming procrastination is easy once you get into the habit of breaking tasks down. Got a report to write? Just work for 30 minutes on it. The point is, you get the ball rolling. Starting is often the hardest part, so break your tasks down. It’s one of the most effective ways to improve the use of your time at work.

Distractions.

Closely linked to procrastination, workplace distractions are constant and everywhere. From websites to water-coolers, all sorts of things have the potential to limit efficiency and effectiveness. Do you get distracted easily? By what? How could you reduce the impact on your work? It all starts with awareness. Once you know what you’re doing, you can do something about it. Solution? Keep a time log. There are all sorts available online. Or you can simply write down everything you do and record how long it takes during a typical working day. You’ll be surprised at the results.

Interruptions.

It’s a question of when, not if, you get interrupted. How do you handle them? Most interruptions are caused by other people wanting something from you. Here are two ways to approach the interruptions you have to deal with.

1. Like lists? Write down 5 things you could realistically do to limit interruptions. This could be anything from your body language to best times of the day to do work that needs full focus.

2. More of a talker? Do the same, but initiate a conversation with someone you respect and trust. Talking it through will help you think of practical solutions quicker than doing so alone.

In this case, the greater part of your success will be achieved if you ’show up’ and do something to improve your time management at work. Have that conversation, write those issues or keep that time log. Just do it, and your work will improve.
